“I had no idea!”: Here's What Being Human Will Look Like in the Next 100 Years

Art and science both share a vital role in shaping the future of human experience. They weave together and intersect at various points, including in technology, engineering and even physics. But what about medicine and the way we treat disease?

WellcomeMD physician Dr. Neal Carl and VCUarts professor Shawn Brixey collaborated with Encorepreneur for an interactive discussion on how art and medicine combine to create innovation and advancement in medicine. Moderator and former WRIC-TV anchor Lisa Schaffner guided the discussion by touching on three big questions: How long will we live, How big will we think and How will we change biologically?

Both Dr. Carl and Professor Brixey delved into the conversation with passion and enthusiasm as the intersection of art and medicine came to light. The conversation was followed by a Q&A from the audience, which included answers to questions such as: “Can art be prescribed as medicine?”
